The video on the left shows how the use of flashcards can be a very useful teaching tool. It allows the students to connect the words with visual stimulants making it easier for the information to stick and can be easily recalled.
Lesson Plan Three - Elementary
"Describing People - Descriptive Adjectives"

|
|
When talking about adjectives it is important to teach the students to understand the difference between them and how to use them. This can always be illustrated by the use of visual aids, such as flashcards, videos and Power Point Presentations, as I did in my lesson plan.
Lesson Plan Five - Intermediate
"Conditionals - First and Second Conditional"

The video on the left shows the zero conditional and first conditional. It is a good idea to make sure that your students know them before teaching the second and third conditional as it will make it easier for them to grasp the concept.
The video on the right shows a fun way to illustrate the use of the second conditional. This one could be more useful for older students as they may already be watching the sitcom and know the characters, next time they watch it they will remember the lesson.
The video on the right shows a fun way to illustrate the use of the second conditional. This one could be more useful for older students as they may already be watching the sitcom and know the characters, next time they watch it they will remember the lesson.

Beginners respond well to videos such as these as they are fun, entertaining and they learn something at the same time. Children respond to visual aids and stimuli more than older students making it a go to tool.

This topic leaves a great deal of room to make it personal which can help the students make a connection between the class and their own lives. When you personalise a class in this way students relate and remember what they are being taught easily.
Lesson Plan Six - Intermediate

It can sometimes be difficult to teach students the tenses as they can be a little confusing. The best way to overcome this is to give as many examples as you can. Also, consider going through the tenses already covered again briefly in order to make sure that they have understood. Finally, try to engage the class in any way possible, ask them for input and give them stimulating activities so they don't lose focus and stop paying attention. While not all classes are going to be fun and games, a teacher should always try their best to make the class interesting.

The use of a video such as this may seem a little easy for an advanced class (depending on the age range of the class), but sometimes you need to just simplify things for them to understand something. at the very least a teacher can use this to get a laugh out of the students.
Lesson Plan Eight - Advanced

Advanced lessons can sometimes be difficult to teach in terms of keeping the class interested in the topic. At this point students may think they know everything now and there is nothing more to learn. Finding ways to keep them interested is vital. In this lesson plan I included a 'who done it" scenario to make the class a little fun.
